Flux for Wave Soldering?php>
VOC-free water-based wave soldering flux
- JS-3000V-3
This VOC-free, water-based product delivers high soldering performance comparable to IPA-based fluxes. Our unique flux technology enhances drying, a common issue with conventional water-based products, and effectively reduces solder splattering and bridging.
feature
- Completely pure water solvents
- Prevents solder splattering and bridging
- Non-hazardous product reduces transport costs and storage space for hazardous materials.
- High electrical reliability
- Ultra-low residue for an excellent aesthetic appearance

What is VOC?
VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compound. They are contained not only in soldering materials but also in many industrial products as organic solvent.
If VOCs are evaporated and released into the atmosphere as gas, they could become an environmental and health hazard.
VOCs Impact
Impact on Environment
– Acid rain and deforestation due to photochemical oxidant
– Depletion of ozone layer in stratosphere
– Global warming
Impact on health
– Eye irritation, nausea and headache due to photochemical oxidant
– Harm to living organisms through direct exposure (carcinogen)
Since VOC emissions can have a serious impact on the environment and the health of all living things, efforts should be made to reduce the use of the related solvents.
Change Solvents from Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to Deionized (DI) Water
– Changing from solvent to pure water may significantly reduce the VOCs generated during soldering.
– Handling will be easier as they are no longer considered as combustible or toxic based on Fire Regulations.
– No need to store in a designated space for a hazardous substance.
– Reduces management cost compared to an IPA-based flux.
Solve the Issues Associated with Water-Base Flux
By using water as the solvent in a soldering flux, the following concern may arise
– Insufficient drying at preheat
– Sudden boiling when contacting solder fountain
– Loss of solder temperature
– Poor flux residue leveling
JS-3000V-3 has improved dryness, which is known as a concern with water-based flux, and reduced flux splattering and flux disappearance, which could cause unmolten solder or bridging.
In addition, the flux residue is clear and not sticky, which is good for in-circuit testing.
