What is a clack flux residue
Assembled PCBs are often used in severe working environment, such as large temperature difference. In such case, condensation may occur on the PCB surface. Condensation may occur on top of flux residue. If the flux residue is cracked by external impact, vibration or temperature difference, moisture could get inside. This moisture deteriorates the insulation resistance of the circuit and may cause issues such as short circuit due to migration occurrence.

It is expected that the ECU in automobile will be more sophisticated and grow in number, so that required electrical reliability of the flux residue will also be higher. Besides automotive industry, electronic devices for outdoor use or industrial equipment has high electrical reliability requirements and demands flux residue to be crack-free under harsh working environment such as huge temperature/ humidity difference.
